The Mass Shootings in Central and Eastern Europe (MSCEE) Data Set

The Mass Shootings in Central and Eastern Europe (MSCEE) Data Set

My monograph, 2022Mass Shootings in Central and Eastern Europe. Palgrave Macmillan, along with other studies relied on data featuring attempted and completed mass shootings that were coded and gathered over the course of 2020-21. In the noted monograph, I tested whether cumulative strain theory could account for completed cases that arose across Central and Eastern Europe.

I also launched a preliminary comparative inquiry into whether cases that occurred in these regions differ in their characteristics than the commonly studied context of the United States.

The data (originally, n=76) are being continuously updated on a bi-annual basis.

The following journal articles have utilized these data:

2023. Do Mass Shootings in Central and Eastern Europe Differ from US Mass Shootings? Insights from the (MSCEE) Data SetJournal of Mass Violence Research. Onlinefirst.

2022. Comparing central and Eastern European mass shootings to American mass shootingsInternational Journal of Comparative and Applied Criminal Justice, Onlinefirst.

Data are accessible via the following link from my academic institution:
